Created by the U.S. Congress in 1970, the National Credit Union Administration is an independent federal agency that insures deposits at federally insured credit unions, protects the members who own credit unions, and charters and regulates federal credit unions.

The NCUA protects the safety and soundness of the credit union system by identifying, monitoring and reducing risks to the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund. Backed by the full faith and credit of the United States, the Share Insurance Fund provides up to $250,000 of federal share insurance to millions of account holders in all federal credit unions and the overwhelming majority of state-chartered credit unions.

MDI Symposium

Join your credit union industry peers at the National Credit Union Administration to participate in a symposium aimed at fostering greater support for minority depository institutions (MDIs).

This exclusive event will feature engaging discussions and collaborative working sessions, all with the common objective of developing an industry-driven plan to bolster MDIs.

Registration is now open, but seating for this symposium is limited.

The NCUA welcomes the opportunity to hear from individuals and companies in the community interested in joining the conversation on supporting and preserving MDIs. Those interested in participating at the 2023 Symposium, or at a future event, are encouraged to reach out and discuss the potential for their participation. Send inquiries and requests to curemdi@ncua.gov. In your submission, please discuss why you want to attend and whether you would be interested in attending as a participant or speaker. If you would like to attend as a speaker, please provide background information, whether an individual or company, and what the presentation would be about. Please include contact information.
