ALEXANDRIA, Va. (Jan. 13, 2025) – The National Credit Union Administration named Julie Cayse as the new regional director, Western Region, effective January 12.
In her new role, Ms. Cayse will oversee the examination and supervision of all federally insured credit unions in Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Guam, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Washington, Wisconsin, and Wyoming.
“Having worked in a variety of leadership roles at the NCUA, this promotion is a well-deserved opportunity for Julie,” NCUA Chairman Todd M. Harper said. “Julie brings a tremendous amount of financial services experience, gained in both the public and private sectors, along with deep management expertise and knowledge of the credit union system to her new role. She will be a strong, collaborative, and energetic leader, and I look forward to seeing what Julie will accomplish.”
Said NCUA Vice Chairman Kyle S. Hauptman, “Julie’s leadership and dedication to the credit union system have been evident throughout her career with the NCUA. There were a number of outstanding external and internal candidates for this job, and I’m confident Julie is the right person to lead the Western Region.”

Before being named regional director, Ms. Cayse served as associate regional director of operations for the Western Region.
Ms. Cayse began her NCUA career in 2010 as an examiner after several years working in financial services in the private sector. She has served as a supervision analyst, supervisory examiner, director of supervision, and director of risk management in the agency’s Office of Examination and Insurance.
Ms. Cayse holds a bachelor’s degree in economics and management from the University of Kentucky and a master’s degree in business administration from Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio. She is a graduate of the Executive Leadership Program at The Graduate School in Washington, D.C., and the NCUA’s Executive Training Program.
