The NCUA Board is requesting comments on the ninth round of proposed regulatory changes under the NCUA Deregulation Project. The comment period ends on June 8, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. Eastern.

The proposals would clarify agency guidance or remove unnecessary, redundant, overly prescriptive, obsolete, or unduly burdensome requirements in the Code of Federal Regulations, including:

12 CFR Part 701, Chartering and Field of Membership — The NCUA Board proposes to amend the associational common bond provisions of its chartering and field of membership rules. The proposed field of membership amendment would clarify that requiring the purchase of a product or service as a condition of membership no longer automatically bars eligibility as a recognized association.
